Link Building Campaigns

Link Building is fundamental to a successful SEO campaign. It's also a quick way to get spammed and banned by Google. So this needs to be completed in an intelligent and authoritative way. Imagine if you were to tell your potential customers how you were building your inbound links. Could you do this and feel comfortable? This is probably a good test if you're considering the latest and greatest link building method.

Some methods to consider:

  1. Post to blogs with links back to your site, keeps post to about 150 characters
  2. Post comments with links
  3. Get people interested in your site and ask them to link to you
  4. Use Affiliates
  5. Use bookmarking sites but note not all will pass page rank to you
  6. Post to 10 or more directories as a minmum. Some are better than others and you'll need to pay for a few, Yahoo Directory for example. DMOZ is free and is still a good reference that Google uses.

Key here is that links should not only come into your TLD or Top Level Domain. Get links to pages deep within your site and links with correct anchor text too. This builds Authority into your site which with relevancy drives your pages up the Search Engine Rankings. In fact it's possible for a page to rank well for a keyword without that keyword appearing on the page, if the anchor text is correctly managed.

Equally important now are the internal links within your site and how these build up and support the theme of your site.
